Development

As part of the first phase of development St. Modwen is currently undertaking the refurbishment of the buildings to the south and north of Moor Lane sympathetically in order to provide modern space for retailers. With new build modern units replacing 10 Moor Lane (the former ‘Best DIY’ unit).  

The Glenn Building to the south of Moor Lane will be refurbished with works including stripping out of existing units, provision of new interior space, new shop frontage and new signage at ground floor. At first floor the space will be refurbished to allow occupation by a variety of uses. The proposals bring forward four units within the existing Glenn Buildings, designed for modern retailers, plus a new larger format unit to attract new occupiers into the Village Centre. The planning consent for this development was achieved in March 2017.

In addition, St Modwen are currently refurbishing the Glenn Building to the north of Moor Lane, the proposals will bring forward three retail units with new shop fronts within the existing building on Moor Lane, designed to meet the needs of modern retailers, and will see the popular Blues Bar retained and the empty upper floor refurbished. This planning consent for this was achieved in May 2017.
